Bristol con Commission and lots of News!
Posted by Lorenzo at 6:32 am

So, another one of my commissions from the recent Bristol con, this one of a MOON! building. I accidentally scanned a few of these in in greyscale, so forgive the lack of "real " colour!

Oh, and on an unrelated note, my bro's just put up an absolute ton of new announcements over on SBT including interviews, press releases and various other gems. If you wanna check them out go HERE or if you'd rather hear all the latest news via our newsletter, subscribe completely free HERE (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

More soon!

May 30th 2008...DFC DAY!
Posted by Lorenzo at 1:16 pm

So this is it, guys, the greatest thing to happen to British comics (in fact, to ALL comics!) in a looooong time.......The DFC!!!!

All across England (and the rest of the world - though maybe not for a few days due to postage times) an army of excited readers will have been tearing back the red and gold DFC envelopes and pouring over 36 pages of fantastic adventures! I cannot tell you how proud we are to be a part of this wonderful new title, and how excited we are to be on board the good ship DFC as she sails on week after week delivering yet more fantastic stories.

I've had a sneak peek at many of the upcoming strips, and I have to say, the quality and variety is incredible, and without a single ad, meaning 36 pages of comic really IS 36 pages of comic!

Even better, the eagerly-awaited almighty DFC website has now entered it's second stage, revealing tons of news, activities and additional goodies about all the strips and everything DFC-related.

Go to www.thedfc.co.uk right now and spend some very enjoyable time rooting around it all!

So what about our contribution? Well, our brand new strip, Monkey Nuts is there in the launch issue, and will continue weekly, meaning every Friday there'll be a new installment to enjoy! We're pulling the stops right out for these adventures, so expect mind-bending detail, hundreds of evil villains, coconuts, high speed chase sequences, magic, monsters, a lazy Monkey and a banana coloured Robot! Ha-zaa!

I also had the honour of designing and illustrating the launch issue cover, and I'll be posting a big step-by-step tutorial of the whole process soon!

But right now, let's comic!

Malcolm and Wonder Woman con commission
Posted by Lorenzo at 5:49 pm

A snap here of one of the pics I drew at the bristol con for regular Blink fan Winston, who likes to get me to draw my interpretation of Wonder Woman. Here she is trussed up with ole' Malcs ala Roger and Jessica, in homage to my all-time favorite movie, Who Framed Roger Rabbit!

Original Lineart for Stunned Bunny T-Shirt...
Posted by Lorenzo at 10:50 am

So, we released the new Malcolm Magic "Stunned Bunny" T-Shirt at the Bristol con last weekend, and I thought I'd show you a little shot of the original board I drew for it.

I knew I wanted the lines to be be really crisp and strong, and I suppose the way most peeps would go at this these days would be to vector trace over a sketch or something. I'm not really into using vectors for lineart though, as you don't really learn anything about actually drawing, so I decided to draw it up freehand, no rulers or any of that nonsense, just a biro, some fineliners, and ma' Mitts!

Board is about 12 by 16 inches...

The DFC is Nearly Here!
Posted by Lorenzo at 9:00 am

So, we're looking forward to the Mighty DFC launch Party on Thursday at the very swanky British Film Institute on London's South Bank. Word is, it's going to be fantastic, and we'll be sure to get some photos to show you guys all that went on.

In the mean time, if you haven't yet subscribed to the DFC, you need to soon, as the first issue launches on May 30th! Here's a little ad I did with the marketing department at Random House for Sky Kids magazine starring our very own Mokey Nuts boys Sid and Rivet...

Go HERE to check out the DFC!

Studio Blink Twice on FaceBook...
Posted by Lorenzo at 8:43 am

Just a quick one to say that I was reminded at the Bristol con but Top Blink Fan Super Monkey Boy (Dylan to you) that there is a little "unofficial-but-kinda-official-cos-we-know-about-it" StudioBlinkTwice Facebook page. It's teeny-tiny at the moment, but if you wanna join it, just go HERE

Another Lil' review...
Posted by Lorenzo at 8:24 am

There's a new review of the great Indie Spinner Rack Awesome Anthology over at Newsarama, here's what they said about the Etherington BROS' contribution...

"Another story in the collection that ties into an upcoming project is Robin and Lawrence Etherington’s “Brain Dead & Loving It.” I’ve been a big fan of the Etheringtons since their Malcolm Magic days and the short story they’ve included here – featuring characters from their upcoming silly sci fi series Moon! – is another tease. The Etherington Bros. put a lot of infectious joy into their work and it’s always a pleasure to read a new story by them."
